Henry Herring, RPh
President
Henry is MCSP’s President and founded Medical Center Pharmacy in 1990. He received his BA in Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill and his BS in Pharmacy from Samford University. When Henry is not suited up in his bow-tie at the pharmacy, he is at home cheering on the Tar Heels and spending time with his growing grandchildren and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Ladd and Louie.
Forbes Herring, MBA
Vice President & General Manager
Forbes grew up working for his father, Henry, at MCSP after school and
during summers. After earning a B.S. in Business Administration from the UNC-Chapel
Hill and an MBA from Emory University, he spent 13 years in business
development and finance within the energy and financial services sectors. Forbes
has since rejoined the family business and spends his free time with his wife
and family, particularly chasing around his two young children.
Dr. Heather Barcus
Director of Operations
Heather graduated from the University of South Carolina with a doctorate of pharmacy and quickly developed a passion for patient care working in the community pharmacy. She’s expanded her role through the years to include management of our sterile and non-sterile labs, clinical media communication, and most recently, becoming our Director of Operations. She, along with her husband and their two energetic boys, has called Wilmington home for 10 years.
Dr. Zach Beard
Pharmacist
Zach recently joined our team. Originally from Asheville, he received his PharmD from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy before bringing his talents to Wilmington. He is passionate about helping people take control of their health.
Dr. Patrick McNeely
Pharmacist
Patrick received his BS in Biology from NC State University and his PharmD from Campbell University. He shares a strong passion for men’s and women’s health and has received his Hormone Specialist Certification. His specialty interests in pharmacy include compounding, as well as herbal and nutritional supplements. While not working, Patrick enjoys spending time with his family.
Jennifer Kitchens, RPh
Pharmacist
Jennifer has been a part of the MCSP family for many years. Her career expands over pediatrics, asthma, women’s health, indigent care, and the whole population in general. She attended pharmacy school at the University of South Carolina and is a proud wife and a mom of two wonderful young women.
Charles King, RPh
Pharmacist
Native to the Wilmington area, Charles graduated from UNCW
with a BS in Chemistry, and later attended pharmacy school at Midwestern University. Charles recently joined the MCSP team, bringing close to 20 years of experience practicing pharmacy in Wilmington. He enjoys fishing, watching UNC sports, and of course spending time with family.
Renee Philpott, CPhT
Lab Supervisor
Renee has been with MCSP for over 27 years. She has attended PCCA’s Comprehensive Compounding Training and brings an unmatched wealth of knowledge and experience to the compound lab. Renee utilizes her expertise to consistently provide an innovative approach to compounded formulations. In addition to her creativity in the lab, she and her husband are local beekeepers.
John MacDonald, CPhT, A-CFHC
Lead Pharmacy Technician
John came to us from Durham, NC and brought with him previous pharmacy technician experience. In addition to leading our technicians, he specializes in insurance billing and has a strong interest in nutritional supplements. He is a certified health coach – something he hopes can benefit many of our local patients as they look to get and stay healthy.
Caroline Rankin
Territory Manager
Caroline graduated from NC State University with a BA in Communications. She is passionate about creating an exceptional client experience — coming with over 10 years working in the healthcare industry. When she’s not travelling to visit providers she enjoys catching up with family on the water in our beautiful coastal city.
Medical Center Specialty Pharmacy specializes in medicated sinus irrigations. We offer several treatment options for chronic sinus conditions. Custom compounded steroids, antibiotics and anti-fungals are delivered into the sinus cavities, most commonly by way of irrigation or nebulizer to treat various sinus conditions.
